The Versatile Arabian

The Arabian Breed has been around for centuries. Originally bred by desert tribes on the Arabian Peninsula for war mounts, the harsh climates allowed the Arabian breed to evolve into a horse with amazing lung capacity and endurance. In those days, a man's wealth was measured by the stock he held in this breed. Arabians were originally known as a breed possessing quality, speed, and endurance. It's no shock to find out that this breed either directly or indirectly has affected almost every modern breed of horses.

Due to the fact that harsh weather required men to share their food, water, and even tents with their animals, the Arabians are highly intelligent creatures with a great love for man. They are one of the most popular breeds in America, and their amazing attributes allow to excel in almost any discipline. Arabians are characterize by a distinctive, dish-shaped head: wide set, gorgeous eyes on a broad forehead; small, curved ears; and large nostrils.

Arabians make fantastic mounts for the whole family. They are great horses whether you are looking for a trail horse, or someone to compete in the show ring. Arabians are excellent competitors in both English and Western disciplines including: Dressage, Hunters, Jumpers, Cutting, Reining, Western Pleasure, and many more. The breed's crowning discipline, however, is endurance. When it comes to this discipline, Arabians are inmatched in their ability to outlast the competition.

In conclusion, whether you are looking for a horse to be the "family horse", or one to take you to the top in competition, the Arabian is certainly right for you.
